The $100 million VF100 Campaign also establishes an endowment fund in Dr. Valentín Fuster’s honor. Building an endowment means that his pioneering research, innovative teaching, and compassionate patient care have the resources to continue in perpetuity, and his lifetime of legendary work continues long into the future.

Now Is the Time to Invest in Cardiac Care

Giving to the Dr. Valentín Fuster Heart Endowment Fund is a meaningful way to sustain the programs at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital. This endowment ensures that Dr. Fuster’s vision, legacy, and lifetime of exceptional work continue long into the future at Mount Sinai and beyond. Ongoing support provided by the endowment drives innovation in basic, clinical, and translational cardiovascular research and allows us to prioritize the patient experience, recruit the leaders of tomorrow, educate the next generation, and ultimately improve heart health in every community around the world.

We invite patients, families, and all individuals touched by Dr. Fuster’s expertise to be a part of his vision for the future of cardiology, which includes:

  • Improving the quality of human life through innovative clinical and applied research in cardiovascular disease at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital.
  • Building upon Dr. Fuster’s vision of outstanding scholarship, scientific achievement and therapeutic discovery.
  • Training the next generation of Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital cardiologists to utilize and share his unparalleled techniques and expertise throughout the medical community.
  • Establishing Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital as a global leader in the fight to eradicate heart disease from our communities in New York and worldwide.

What Is an Endowed Fund?

An endowed fund comprises gifts from one or multiple donors providing financial support for a specified purpose in perpetuity. An endowed fund’s principal is invested yet preserved, allowing the fund to grow over time rather than being spent all at once. Like individual investors in a mutual fund, Mount Sinai’s endowed funds are combined and managed as part of Mount Sinai Health System’s overall investment pool. However, each endowment is tracked separately to ensure that each fund’s share is designated and protected.

The investment income earned supports Mount Sinai Health System’s activities. As such, the Dr. Valentín Fuster Heart Endowment Fund will forever honor Dr. Fuster and provide the means for Mount Sinai to maintain and advance in all areas of cardiovascular care, education, and research.

“This campaign is really important because there's so much more we can do in cardiovascular disease for patients globally through the combined efforts of the team we have here at Mount Sinai.”
